About MAXIMUS J. TAYLOR

Park Image MAX WAS DIAGNOSED 3/1/12, AT AGE 3, AFTER 2 WEEKS OF TESTING AT MIAMI CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. WE HAD TAKEN HIM TO THE ER ONE SATURDAY EVENING AFTER HE GOT SICK AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. 2 MONTHS EARLIER, HE HAD HIT THE BACK OF HIS HEAD AT SCHOOL AND DEVELOPED BLACK EYES, WHICH DIDN'T RESOLVE. HIS CONDITION WAS MIS-DIAGNOSED TWICE OVER THESE 2 MONTHS. MAX WAS TREATED ON THE STANDARD COG PROTOCOL, WITH A 6-MONTH EXTENSION OF LO-DOSE CHEMO. HE ATTAINED REMISSION AFTER STEM CELL TRANSPLANT AT CHOP, BUT RELAPSED 2 YEARS AFTER DIAGNOSIS. MAX IS PRIMARILY TREATED AT MSKCC AND HAS ACHIEVED A SECOND REMISSION. HE IS CURRENTLY ON THE VACCINE TRIAL. OUR THANKS TO OUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS, EMPLOYERS AND THE MEDICAL STAFF AT MIAMI CHILDREN'S, CHOP AND MSKCC. MAX LIVES HIS LIFE FULLY AND IS AN INSPIRATION TO THOSE WHO KNOW HIM! HE'S CHEERFUL AND BUSY BEING A KID...
